Form N-400

Tips to Naturalization

Naturalization is a procedure by which an individual may obtain a U. S. citizenship.

A person who is going to apply for naturalization should know about certain conditions that are meaningful for all the applicants.

  1. It is worth to note that you can submit form N-400 only when you turned 18 years.
  2. It is necessary to be a permanent resident (a Green Card holder) for 5 years immediately before the date of filing Form N-400.
  3. Furthermore, you should demonstrate that you live at least 3 months in the state in which you apply.
  4. You have to verify your 30 months out of 5 years presence in the U.S. before your application is submitted.
  5. You need to have the basic knowledge of English language.
  6. Your understanding of U.S. history and civics also should be right-on.
  7. Prove your serious attitude to the ideals of the U.S. Constitution.
  8. Try to show that you are a person of good morality.

You don’t need all these requirements if your parent is a U.S. citizen.

By itself, the Application for Naturalization process is quite long but clearly controlled. It includes the following positions:

  • determine your eligibility to obtain a U.S. citizenship;

  • fill out Form N-400;

  • prepare all the necessary documentation and photos to be filed with the form;

  • submit filing form N-400 together with the documents;

  • go to the biometric appointment, if required;

  • you will receive an email with a set date and time of an interview;

  • complete an interview.

These are the main steps that depended on you. Now you can only wait for a USCIS decision. Once you get an affirmative notice, you need to demonstrate the understanding of your rights and responsibilities taking the Oath of Allegiance to the United States.

To successfully undergo this procedure it is recommended to be accurate and honest. All your personal data will be carefully checked.
